REGULAR DEMOS CONTINUE AGAINST ASTRAZENECA IN LUND, SWEDEN

Over June - July

During June and July, AstraZeneca have been in the spotlight for their tests at Huntingdon Life Sciences.

AstraZeneca is based in four different cities in Sweden and the one in Lund has been the target of pretty much weekly protests since the beginning of June. Armed with megaphones, airhornes and of course banners and posters with pictures of the animals dying inside HLS, we've made it clear to everyone what AstraZeneca is paying for. The demos have been held during opening and closing hours as to catch the employees as they come to work or leave for the day. Each and everyone leaving Astra Zeneca have been shown the reality of what does on at HLS labs. We've done megaphone speeches about the tests on primates that AstraZeneca was exposed for last year and about the fraudulent "science" that HLS is conducting inside their labs.

As AstraZeneca themselves do tests on animals and as they are one of Lund's biggest companys (they employ quite a lot of people) we thought it would be hard to reach passers by and the people working at the company. Fortunately, we were wrong! The public support has been great and actually growing every week we've been outside the gates of AstraZeneca. A lot of people driving by honk their horns and give a thumbs up and people going past on the bike lane stop to talk and take information. We've even had some good discussions with people working inside AstraZeneca, who told us they are thinking about resigning if their company continues to work with HLS. They've seen the footage from inside the labs and think it's horrible what goes on!

Several articles in the newspaper probably did some good as well, and we've seen a steady rise of members and people wanting to become active in the area.

We will continue to expose AstraZeneca for their dealings with Huntingdon Life Sciences and we will keep showing up where ever they do business. In comments to the media their management have admitted that they do order tests from HLS but claims that HLS doesn't do any painful tests at all. They said they visited the labs during the spring without finding any animal cruelty.

We wonder if they had their eyes closed during the visit...
