HLS SUPPLIERS & CUSTOMERS PROTESTS IN UK
Friday 20th June
Demo 1 - Ciba Vision, Flanders road, Hedge End Nr Southampton
We started our day in a familiar Friday dwelling of ours, everyones favorite animal abuser's call center, Ciba Vision. The site was even more empty than usual and local burger man, the aptly named 'Mr Grumpy' was straight over to blame us for the deadly silence in the ares, we were after all, driving away his customers, because who wants to eat a pig in a roll when you are hearing stories across the road about pig's hearts being stitched to live baboons?
As always, the demo was well received by the local builders and by people at the top of the road and local shoppers were shocked by what they learnt during our fifteen minutes of megaphone time (on a medium volume, of course). Even the local PCSO was shocked by some of the stuff she learnt and even as an impartial body, you could tell she would be uncomfortable using Focal Dailes or Savlon.
Demo 2 - Staples, Burrfield Road, Portsmouth
This site has become famous among SHAC for being a great place for demoing the HLS secretive supplier Staples. It is right by a local pet shop and the customers from the pet shop are naturally animal lovers who hate animal cruelty. We were not disappointed with the amount of people interested in what we had to say and it seems even Staples were not very bothered by our demonstration as they didn't remove us from their land, they simply made us unblock the door. Fair enough.
Sadly there are always going to be people in large public places who want to look like they have no fear and so will try get in the faces of people just trying to do the right thing and as one lady told us 'Dirty Hippies' to 'get a job and have a wash' we were delighted to hear an impartial bystander say 'look in the mirror, love'. Yet again we will be back until they issue the statement which says 'Staples no longer supply to HLS, puppy killers'.
Demo 3 - Wyeth, New Lane, Havant, Nr Portsmouth
Our final stop for the day was Wyeth, a place where we recently had loads of local school kids show such an interest in our demo that they joined in. Well the Kids were still in school when we arrived today, but it seems they may have converted their parents as EVERYBODY who passed our demonstration showed us support.
Even when the police tried to disband us and take away our megaphones, local people came out to keep up the chanting whilst we politely reminded the police of the law. After they had seen sense, mainly because when the animal rights specialist PC had intervened he told them they were acting improperly and should probably just leave us alone, we proceeded to push our placards up against their high fence and let them know that they can tell as many people as they like that they don't conduct animal tests in the UK, but we know it is because they pay an animal lab which hires drunks, drug addicts and sex offenders to conduct tests for them. Needless to say,we didn't forget to remind them of the 72000 animals waiting to die, covered in their own blood, vomit and faeces either. As with all of today's targets, we will be back Wyeth.
Severe your ties!
