HLS CUSTOMER PROTESTS IN SWEDEN

The anti-HLS demos continues in Sweden and this week activists once again gathered for a small Scania tour. The usual suspects were visited and noisy demos were held. At Syngenta they were not very happy with having us outside their gates but we made sure everyone could hear what kind of a company Syngenta is. After the demo was finished two police vans turned up, lights flashing, blocking our minivan as we were to leave. They must have thought all hell broke loose but calmed down when they realised we were friendly animal rights people.

A representative from Syngenta however went on about how we disrupted business and actually yelled at the police for being so slow to react because he thought that 20 minutes just wasn't fast enough. Him being so rude didn't really help Syngenta, and the demo highlighting their crimes against the animals felt like a great success as we left for next place.

At Bayer we turned up just as the employees were about to leave. As they saw us they turned and disappeared back within the building as so many times before. They can't be happy with the situation right now, animal lovers standing just outside their doorstep telling their neighbours how they make a living...

One who was even more upset, was a guy from the premises who thought it would be a good idea to lock us in inside the industrial compund. He shut the entrance gates and guarded them as we headed for the car. He had forgot there's another gate just five meters from where he stood. As the workers from Bayer left we lined up along the road just outside the gates to tell them and everyone visiting what we think of animal abusers. Signs were visible and megaphones were used to make sure they knew this is just getting started.

More demos will be held during the summer and all customers of HLS will hear from us. The demos also resulted in two short articles in newspapers. Huntingdon Life Sciences, vivisection, protests were mentioned in the same sentences as the two companies names. Not good for business!
