HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY PUPPY KILLERS
Pre-Gala: Attendees of the BioWindhover Conference being held at the nearby Grand Hyatt at Grand Central Station were treated to an offsite Gala at the prestigious Morgan Library and Museum on New York City's Madison Avenue. Activists were sure to arrive before the guests began to stroll down the Avenue toward the Morgan Library.
The expansive plate glass windows provided a perfect frame for the banners depicting the bloody mutilated remains of an adorable beagle puppy and the new banner clearly depicting which companies were being addressed. Each and every person who entered the Library was greeted with loud choruses of Puppy Killer, Leave Town. The shame and discomfort of certain attendees was a dead give away as to who was representing the companies whose logos graced the new banner.
Mid Gala: Although the original plan was only to stay through the arrival of the party goers, activists felt so empowered and effective in delivering their message that it was decided to stay until 7:30 PM (the event was scheduled to end at 8:00 PM). By staying activists were able to approach stragglers arriving at the Gala late and also a good number of New Yorkers who stood adjacent to the protest waiting for commuter buses to take them home.
Many pedestrians took flyers and stopped to talk about the inefficacy of animal testing and their support for a cruelty free lifestyle. Many agreed that the drug companies listed were killing people with their poisonous drugs, as well as the hundreds of thousands of innocent animals that were being tortured and murdered needlessly.
Post Gala: After a short St. Paddy's Day rest stop, protesters returned to the Morgan Library to make sure that no one at the Gala left without feelin the love. After 3 straight days of street protests, it was only outrage and adrenaline that fueled the weary but still angry protesters. Once again, not a single person left without a clear understanding of the wrath and the determination of the anti-vivisection campaigners gathered at the Morgan Library front door.
One particularly repulsive moment came when a very drunken animal abuser stumbled onto the sidewalk and tried to grope a middle aged female activist all the while making kissing, slurping gestures at the activist. Once again, this moron learned that it is not a good idea to lay hands or in this case slurpy lips on an activist while a group of other activists is in close proximity.
It is a credit to the control and positive anger management of the protestors that this did not end up badly, with the animal murderer looking like one of his animal victims. We will never back down, until YOU stop the killing, Puppy Killers!
