EASTER HLS PROTESTS IN NY, USA

Demo 1: Andrew Baker, CEO Huntingdon Life Sciences

WAR activists kicked off the 4th weekend of March Madness at the multimillion dollar hi-rise apartment of Andrew Baker, Chief Bunny Killer of Huntingdon Life Sciences. An activist began the protest with a speak out explaining that protesters would much rather be at home with their companion animals, family and friends; but that they felt compelled to be at Baker's home on Easter Sunday because animals were dying at Huntingdon Life Sciences on Easter Sunday and on every other Sunday.
Sunday was a lovely clear Spring day that brought an abundance of strollers along Central Park West. Families passed with baby carriages and others walked their dogs. Groups of passersby kept activists busy as they handed out literature and explained the reason for the protests, with a back drop of 15 activists giving voice to their anger and frustration at the killing that continues unabated at HLS. A 15 banner reading Andrew Baker Puppy Killer graced the stone wall of Central Park West while activists held other banners, one specifically for the occasion which read: HLS Bunny Killers.
The clear day and slow traffic along Central Park West allowed activists voices to be heard for multiple blocks. Puppy Killer. Leave Town.Bunny Killer, Leave Town chanted the protestors. It's your money. It's your greed. It's your company. It's your fault. As long as Huntingdon Life Sciences continues to kill animals under the direction of Andrew Baker, activists will fulfill their ethical and moral responsibility to speak out against the mass murder of innocent animals.

Demo 2: Nicole Brier, Liaison Sanofi-Pasteur

Just a short distance away, activists converged on the quaint brownstone residence of Nicole Brier of Sanofi-Pasteur, subsidiary of Sanofi-Aventis both parent and subsidiary are customers of Huntingdon Life Sciences. HLS does the killing but companies like Sanofi enable HLS to continue by contracting with them. Murder for Hire! The blood is on Sanofi's hands just as it stains the hands of the butchers at Huntingdon Life Sciences.
Once again, graphic banners and loud voices raised in unison as Nicole's neighbors came out of their buildings to see what was going on. Literature was distributed freely and many were educated about what goes on in animal concentration camps like HLS and they were made aware of how they can help put a stop to the madness. Many pledged their support and promised to help.

Demo 3: Dorothy Watson, General Counsel & VP Novartis

Next stop was a location familiar to activists. Dorothy Watson, VP and General Counsel for Novartis moved to this building over a year ago to escape (we heard through the grapevine) from the protests that were held at her Chelsea home (actually we hear that she is so hated by other building residents that we have no doubt that this figured into her decision).
The pictures of bloodied mutilated animals lined the corner of West 72nd Street and Broadway, an incredibly busy intersection. Activists brought their companion animals to the protest where dogs acted as ambassadors of good will, while the protesters gave voice to their anger and frustration. Several of Dorothy's neighbors stopped by with their dogs to chat and (the people stopped to chat, the dogs stopped for the numerous pats and belly rubs they get at WAR protests). After an hour of street outreach activists ran out of flyers and moved on to their next location.

Demo 4: Lamberto Andreotti, President Worldwide Pharmaceuticals Bristol-Myers Squibb

The final stop of the evening was the home of Lamberto Andreotti, Executive with Bristol-Myers Squibb. The protest line was positioned along Central Park West on the corner of W. 64th Street. An excellent location the sidewalk was full of folks strolling along the avenue. As always, education and outreach are important components of WAR protests. As much time is spent talking to pedestrians and distributing literature as is spent with voices raised in chant. After hours of protest, WAR activists still managed to represent in a loud and spirited fashion. Thinking about the animals imprisoned in Huntingdon Life Sciences fuels activist anger and rage.
On a day that the religious celebrate rebirth and spirituality, others do business as usual. That business being the killing of innocent animals. On Easter Sunday, it is hard not to think about the 12,800 animals that were poisoned for the sugar substitute Splenda. Pregnant rabbits, beagle puppies and infant monkeys made up the 12,800 animals that were killed. And for what? another crappy product? Anyone can do a quick Google search of the consumer reports regarding Splenda and find out how many believe it to be a dangerous and harmful substance. Splenda was tested at Huntingdon Life Sciences.just another bullshit example of their important and life saving work.
