ASTRAZENECA WD DEMOS IN LONDON

It was a big day for Astrazeneca and they were having their AGM in a fancy hotel and conference building in Hammersmith. SHAC was there to meet this disgusting company head-on and we rocked the hotel with megaphones and shouting for a good hour and a half. We conducted our demonstration with fantastic energy and the noise could be heard from a long distance away. The two people who were handing out leaflets directly above the main group of protesters at the entrance to the AGM could hear the message very loud and very clear. This was a very useful demonstration against this vile company who continues to pay HLS to torture animals.

We then decided to revisit a familiar battleground, Stanhope Gate, the home of Astrazeneca's London office. We were doing another good demonstration until the Metropolitan police turned up and stripped our right to protest properly. We should be able to protest on the same side of the road as the building. This is not an unreasonable request and most police forces wouldn't even think of moving us with section 14 powers. Section 14 was created to deal with serious incidents in major demonstrations - hardly 8 people and a couple of megaphones! Two activists were arrested at this demonstration because the police felt that their unlawful section 14 was not adhered to. We shall hopefully see in court what the judge thinks about it.

The fight against the animal abusers goes on as ever...
