CIBA VISION/NOVARTIS PROTEST IN SOUTHAMPTON, UK

On Friday May 2nd, Activists were back to being a thorn in the side of Novartis owned Ciba Vision (Flanders Road, Hedge End, Near Southampton, Hampshire, SO30 2LG). After taking off a couple of weeks for the big Novartis National (we were way too busy irritating Novartis in Horsham), it seemed almost like Ciba Vision had
forgotten that Friday was our special day, as members of staff came out of the building very confused at to what all the noise was about. Even the local police force were a bit confused about how best to monitor us, after all, if activists keep to the injunction there's very little they can do to stop us.

As usual, demo point A received great public support from through traffic on the main road and several people coming down Flanders road stopped to ask what the reason behind the protest was. Our response that Ciba Vision/Novartis pay for tests where 500 animals a day are killed and up to 72000 animals lie in tiny cages covered in their own blood, vomit and feces was greeted thumbs up and one very nice man told us to 'keep up our great work'. Traffic slowed
down more than usual to read our huge SHAC banner and even Ciba employees came closer to us than usual to have a snoop around.

Last Saturday was just the beginning. SHAC will return to that little corner of Southampton time and time again to interrupt the working days of those who profit in blood money.

Until all ties with HLS are severed.
