"Well, my name is Kerry, I am 33 years old and I want to see an absolute end to HLS and other filthy death chambers profiting from the abuse and suffering of animals. My earliest memory of being horrified at animal abuse dates back to when I was 9 years old. I was taken to the circus by my typically ignorant, socially conditioned foster parents – as a ‘treat’ (!) for the family. I don’t recall a great deal about the circus, apart from bursting into tears at the sight of a pony being paraded around the ring with a pathetic over grown Barbie doll bitch standing on his/her back. Even then, something inside me told me that this was a cruel act. Subsequently I was physically removed from this awful sight and disciplined by my foster parents for ruining the family outing. My punishment? Never being taken to the circus again!!! Hurraaaah!!! I highlight this memory for two reasons. Firstly, this incident accurred 24 years ago, when lack of education/ignorance was prominent to the plight of animals. Now in the 21st century, society claims to be more socially/ethically aware, and entertainments such as animal circuses are not frequented as often, or by so many. But maybe this has been influenced by an inability for circuses and the like to remain secretive. Unlike the vivisection industry! Secondly, selective social ignorance is still prevelant today. How often do we see parents pull their children away from stalls, saying ‘oh don’t look at those pictures’! Or have any of you actually experienced supposedly intelligent adults accusing you of lying, and that the pictures are false?! When I was 9, the ignorance in my situation was the same that is still shown towards animal abuse today. Particularly the vivisection industry! Since a young age I’ve been opposed to all forms of abuse and bullying. But as I became older, and thankfully more informed, I became convinced that the ‘treatment’ of many animals in many establishments was (to me) the absolute worse form of bullying and abuse. Shamefully (on my behalf), due to personal and somewhat traumatic life experiences/events, I didn’t act upon my beliefs until I was 30 – a fact that I do regret. Vivisection in my opinion, represents all that is wrong in our society – captitalism, destruction, ignorance, materialism, deciet, fraud, greed, selfishness, abuse of power / position, lies and corruption. Well, the list could go on. But what vivisection represents most fundamentally is legalised murder, abuse and suffering. This cannot and will not be allowed to continue. OK I was 30 until I got off my backside – but I intend to make up for those lost years. Not for myself, but for every animal imprisoned in every death camp. Yes, I rememberd that night when I cried at the circus. I still cry now about the unimaginable suffering that’s happening to our beautiful family members. But as has been said many, many times: “for the animals, tears mean nothing but action means everything”. And that’s why I am prepared to spend the rest of my life fighting Hell holes like HLS and experience the joy as one by one they crumble – regardless of what the government throw at us. So Let's DO IT!!!"
