"My name is Saffron and have been a singer songwriter for 15 years.

I appeared in Andrew Lloyd-Webbers musical Starlight Express before I went on to form my band Republica who toured the world for 9 years achieving great success in the states as well as Europe and selling millions of records.

I am constantly asked to promote charities but have refused all except the ones which are nearest to my heart that being the care of animals.

I am militantly anti -fur and fox hunting and have supported the charities P.E.T.A, the B.U.A.V and N.A.V.S and the Animal Defenders. Last year I handed in 25,000 petitions from the general public into number 10 Downing Street in the form of Puppy Pledges to ask the government to intervene and stop testing on Beagle pups. I also strongly support the Lord Dowding Fund for Humane Research and the Dr.Hadwin Trust.

I am appalled that in the modern world in which we live we continue for monetary gains to experiment and torture defenceless creatures for vanity and useless and highly ineffective so called medical research which is driven by conglomerate companies in order to sell us more drugs.

I myself have pet rats, which have mostly been rescued or neglected by careless owners. I do not believe in the caging of any animal and my rats run free and live as normal a life as they would in the wild as Mother Nature intended. They are the un-loved so I love them.

I fully support your courageous efforts to campaign against this animal Auschwitz to the point that you are willing to give up your liberty. As a public figure I will attempt to educate as many of the general public to the horrors that occur daily in this terrible place.

For all the millions of animals that have suffered agonising deaths I hope my support will help in a small way to get Huntingdon closed down once and for all. For the ANIMALS, love SAFFRON xxx"
