Your safety and security is paramount to us. So when a computer programme comes along that is free and enables you to scramble your emails so nobody can read them except those you choose you would expect us to tell you about it right? Well here it is and it's called PGP which stands for Pretty Good Privacy.

You can also encrypt desktop files and securely wipe data so that it can never be recovered. Whilst our personal freedom and civil liberties are being eroded PGP gives us a chance to keep some privacy and can be a very effective tool for activists. PGP is used by MI6 and has to date proved to be uncrackable.

PGP is available for PC and Mac and you can download it free from: www.pgpi.org.
