Operation: IX3 Continues Strong

Superbowl Sunday – Perfect Day to Get the Attention of HLS Investors Barclays and State Street

On a very warm February 1st, Win Animal Rights resumed their naming and shaming of puppy killers and their enablers. Why were there demos on Superbowl Sunday, you ask? The poisoning, burning, mutilation, and murder don't stop because of the Superbowl and neither should the campaign to stop the killing at Huntingdon Life Sciences. Plus, Superbowl protests have the potential to be even more effective, since most people will be at home. Sorry to be party poopers!

Demo #1: Franklin Robinson - Hedge Fund Manager - Barclays Global Investors

The residence of Franklin Robinson, Hedge Fund Manager at Barclays, has become a regular target for protests,as the financial services provider continues to hold onto its 400,000 shares in LSR stock. With Huntingdon Life Sciences tanking the way it is, one would think that Barclays would want to jump ship as so many of their colleagues have already. But hey, if you want to lose money that badly, just give it to WAR instead!

One passerby commented that the images portrayed on the posters were too graphic for young children to see. Activists patiently explained, with compassion, that the images were a true portrayal of what is going on behind locked doors at Huntingdon Life Sciences. When the reality of the situation is explained even to very young children, they understand and always display caring and concern for the animals. What child would want bunny rabbits and beagle puppies harmed for products like toothpaste and tanning lotion?

As in previous Robinson demos, friends and neighbors of the man stopped by to chat and informed the protesters that they would speak to him about Barclays' misdeeds. If enough people get his ear, Robinson may be prompted to use his influence to get his company to dump their shares. All it takes is a few puffs to knock down the house of cards. Protesters assured neighbors that as soon as Barclays sells their blood money shares, they will seek other venues for their protests.

Demo #2: Joy Hou - Barclays

Activists continued their campaign against Baclays as they marched down to the home of Joy Hou, a trader at the financial institution. The Hou residence is always an interesting location to protest, as almost every person that comes out of the building has a different story about Ms. Hou's housing situation.

Oh, she moved? Two years ago, you say? The other person said she moved out two months ago. Wait, she's just on vacation? Ah, so she's just gone for the day. Jeez people, make up your minds already! Perhaps you guys should get into a huddle (aha, football reference!) and figure out the best story to tell. In any event, demonstrations at the Hou home will continue until Barclays severs their ties to the scumbag bunny killers.

Demo #3: Christopher Perretta – CIO State Street Corporation

The protesters did not have to travel very far to the home of Christopher Perreta, Chief Information Officer at State Street Corporation, as Mr. Perreta happened to live right across the street from Ms. Hou. Fortunately for the activists, no grumpy old man were around to throw buckets of water or threaten to assault female protesters. Instead, the protesters spoke to some friendly employees at a cafe adjacent to the building who did not mind the demonstration.

All in all, while it was a quiet day of action, that does not mean it was an insignificant one. Constant pressure needs to be exerted in order to deliver the message to these investors. As companies learn of the atrocities committed at Huntingdon Life Sciences, they are quick to relinquish their ties to Huntingdon Life Sciences.

The animals, unable to speak for themselves, rely on those compassionate members of society to speak for them and end the suffering and death. WAR will not let them down.

Protests of February 1, 2009 are dedicated to the memory of UK activist Jill Phipps who passed on February 1, 1995. Jill is remembered as a courageous UK activist who was killed while advocating for baby veal calves. Jill is missed by many who continue to fight against the cruelty of animal exploitation. Rest in peace, Jill.
