home >> news WORLD LAB WEEK CONTINUES WITH DEMOS Sunday, 19th April WAR Launches World Week at the newly discovered addresses of Top Executives of Bristol-Myers Squibb and Novartis. In Solidarity with Imprisoned Activists Lindy Greene and Kevin Olliff Demo #1: James Cornelius – Chairman & CEO – Bristol-Myers Squibb Activists began their tour of the rich and infamous at the new home of Bristol-Myers Squibb Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, James Cornelius. When BMS Exec Peter Dolan left in disgrace, Cornelius who was a Board Member at the time took over the top position on an interim basis. Recently Cornelius accept the position on a permanent basis and now he has purchased a multi-million dollar penthouse apartment in the well known, Time-Warner Building. As soon as the assemblage began to chant in unison, security guards scurried over to tell the protesters that they were not allowed on the sidewalk because the Time-Warner building owned it. He was quickly told that this was true only in the imagination of the building management and he was dismissed and shooed away. Loud voices rang strong and true….”500 animals were murdered today, James Cornelius is to blame. Activists proceeded to educate the many bystanders and pedestrians about the blood money relationship of Huntingdon Life Sciences and Bristol-Myers Squibb. Now that protesters have found Mr. Cornelius, you can bet that they will keep coming back until Bristol-Myers Squibb severs their ties to HLS. Demo #2: Michael Grobstein – Director - Bristol-Myers Squibb A quick trip across town to one of the most luxurious buildings in the city, Trump Plaza, protesters once again unfurled their banner and raised their graphic signs, along with their loud voices, to educate the neighbors of Michael Grobstein, who sits on the Board of Directors of Bristol-Myers Squibb. The doormen were quick to come out to tell the activists that they were at the wrong address. Apparently he thought the protest was targeted at Robert Kelly, Chairman and CEO of Bank of New York Mellon, one of Huntingdon Life Sciences largest investors. A simple mistake as Kelly lives almost next door to Trump Plaza. Activists set the doormen straight and got back down to business. Loud voices raised in unison shouted out and many of Michael’s neighbors stopped to chat and to take pamphlets detailing his relationship with Bristol-Myers Squibb and Huntingdon Life Sciences. The close proximity of Michael Grobstein’s residence to Robert Kelly of Bank of New York Mellon insures that activists will be back soon and often. Activists think that it is awesome that so many sleazy corporate scumbags live so close to each other! See you soon, Michael Grobstein. Demo #3: Robert Pelzer – President & CEO Novartis (USA) Last stop of the afternoon was the Grand Beekman, luxury hi-rise condo building of Robert Pelzer, recently appointed head of Novartis Pharmaceuticals (or as we know it, Novartis Drug Company). As President and CEO of Novartis, Pelzer has an extraordinary amount of influence over Novartis business relationships. Pelzer recently purchased his $3.8 million condo from Anne Mulcahy, CEO of Xerox. Located in a very animal friendly building and neighborhood (just a short way from the neighborhood dog run), it only took a short time for folks to come out of the building to find out what was going on. Once they understood who their neighbor was and that his company Novartis was in league with the devils at Huntingdon Life Sciences they expressed their disgust of their new neighbor. Some took flyers to distribute throughout the building. Due to the high level of his office, there is no doubt that activists will make this a regular weekend stop, to give voice to the animals who cannot speak for themselves. “We will never back down, until they stop the killing” followed quickly by “We’ll be back, We’ll be back, We’ll be back”. Robert Pelzer would be wise to cut those ties now before he is as hated in his neighborhood as Andrew Baker, CEO of Huntingdon Life Sciences. All protests, on this day, were done in solidarity with Lindy Greene and Kevin Olliff, two activists recently indicted and imprisoned on bullshit charges in California. Until Lindy and Kevin are free we will continue to speak out for them and for the animals.
