home >> news STATE STREET AND BARCALYS DEMOS IN ITALY Monday, 27th April Activists in Milano, Italy, decided to use the day to name and shame companies that find it normal or decent to invest in the torture and killing of 500 animals a day. These companies are banks and financial istitutions that buy shares of Huntingdon Life Sciences (LSR). They invest in suffering and we go in the streets to confront them with the truth of animals being mutilated, poisoned and punched in the face inside this notorious animal torture lab. The only italian offices of State Street are in Milano, so here we are. We started our demo while most workers of the building, hosting also other companies, were coming back from lunch and this was the perfect time to let all of them know what State Street is funding with their money. The demo has been loud and visible for all the hour we stayed there. It was the first demo at State Street Offices, but we will be back soon if they still continue funding torture and suffering. Then we moved to Barclays Premiere, a very posh building of Barclays, just a few metres from the Milano Cathedral, in a tourist area. Here is where they meet their most important clients, in a luxury atmosphere... and here is where we do all of our Barclays demos! As usual the demo has been visbile and loud, with the mngaphone put at full use and chants all the time. Even if the weather was not on our side hundreds of leaflets have been given and a lot of tourists were interested in what HLS is doing and the Barclays connection with all the horrible vivisection pictures we had on our posters. We promised to be back and here we are! See you soon, Barclays! For more information on the italian campaign to close down HLS:
