MORE REGULAR DEMOS AT ICS IN BIRMINGHAM

Friday, 14th Augustt

Industrial Cooling Systems - Supplier (Cooling Equipment)
Unit 82, Plume Ind. Estate, Holborn Hill, Aston, Birmingham, West Midlands, B6 7RT

Today SHACtivists in Birmingham headed to Industrial Cooling Systems again for another local demonstration against the company for their collaboration with the animal abusers Huntingdon Life Sciences. ICS are supplying HLS with cooling equipment, and ICS just so happen to have a branch in Birmingham which we have been and will continue to protest outside of on a regular basis until they make the right decision that already many companies have - to DUMP HLS!

We arrived at the location of Industrial Cooling Systems and thus started the demo and the naming and shaming of them for their dodgy dealings with the animal torture hell-hole, Huntingdon Life Sciences. Their response was to shut the windows and close the blinds, but neither of these will shield them from the truth and nothing will.

Further into the demonstration a police riot van arrived on the scene, in which we were informed of being on private property and agreed to move off to protest at another agreed location - still in close enough range of ICS but also an ideal place for spreading awareness to passing members of the public. Before we continued the demonstration at this area, the shameful workers at ICS opened their blinds and windows again - but as soon as the demonstration continued they rushed to close them once more. Ironically although ICS are a cooling-system company, the weather was hot and they seemed quite keen and reliant on having their windows open to stay cool. This soon became almost a game after being silent for 2 minutes they'd again open the windows, in which we'd then continue to inform about ICS and each time they closed the windows back up again.

Many members of the public took leaflets, and some even parked up to read them, watch the demonstration for a while and pass words of support and encouragement to us. Lots of information was given, as well as questions answered to some who were more curious and a couple of people also wanted to know about getting involved with the SHAC campaign.

Finally we were visited by a police officer in his car who was keen to ask us unnessessary questions, told us he'd be filming us and threatened us with possible arrest - even though we'd as usual abided by the law - but we were already about to finish the demonstration anyway.

What's wrong ICS, are you finding yourselves too hot on your feet with our presence? And not only hot on your feet, but inside your work-place too?

There's no excuse for animal abuse. See you next time ICS, until you sever your ties with the murderers, HLS.
