BAYER PROTEST AND VIGIL IN MOSCOW

More than 20 people gathered in front of the office of the Bayer corporation in Moscow. They stood at the entrance holding banners and chanting. Then a pause, while activists lit candles and held a moment of silence in commemoration of animals killed in HLS laboratories.

It was one of the series of actions for closing the HLS torture center, where every day 500 animals are being killed in experiments. Bayer is one of five biggest HLS customers.

The demo took place at the end of the working day, that is so the employees of the corporation, when leaving their working place had to pass through the picketing activists, chanting: "Bayer, stop the killing!", "Close down HLS", "No vivisection!"... Activists needed no loudspeaker equipment to make their slogans be heard not only in the offices of the corporation, but also in the buildings nearby.

The prefecture of the district had agreed a demo of 20 people, but more activists continued to come up, so all the territory in front of the entrance were filled with people holding banners. Because the police told us to keep the quantity of the participants down, many people had to cross the street and stay there - but there they also supported the protest against the activities of the Bayer corporation.

In front of the activists on the snow there was a white gown withh red spots, like the spots of blood of animals, who are being killed in animal testing at HLS. "Blood not paint! Can't be washed from hands!" - animal rights activists were chanting when the workers of Bayer were watching them through the windows. The activists urged them to stop cooperating with HLS that snowy winter evening.
