DAY OF ACTION AGAINST CUSTOMERS & SHAREHOLDER IN ITALY

Friday, 30th January

More than 20 activists from the north of Italy had a day of demos against three companies still dealing with Huntingdon Life Sciences.

At 8.00 we are already at the gates of the Italian headquarters of one of the major customers of HLS: Novartis. Situated in the town of Origgio, this site is a really good spot for demos, with hundreds of cars passing near the group of angry, passionate activists shouting slogans like"Blood on your hands" and "500 dead animals, for Novartis they are just money". The local cops are always nervous, but we don't care 'cause we are here for the animals dying in their cages at HLS, and we keep on doing our demo greeting every car with our chants, especially posh cars like SUV or a car with swiss license plate, as they are likely to be from the Swiss offices. We leave around 10 am and head for the next demo.

At 11 am we are back in the city of Milano in front of a huge building of Bayer. With the help of many megaphones we held a very noisy demo telling the workers of this sick company what we think of their job. We demoed this place tens of times but as always the people inside the building, spying us from behind the windows, are indifferent and selfish. No matter what we tell them through the megaphone, how animals are poisoned and tortured to death at HLS, they keep on feigning ignorance and go back to their offices and their daily routine. We greeted the workers coming in and out of the building for the lunch-break with our slogans and showing them and passersby the horrible pictures of the animals mutilated at HLS.

In the afternoon we move to the most famous and touristic area of the city, near the "Duomo", for a demo in front of a very posh building of Barclays Premier. At this demo we have some restrictions, we can't use megaphones, but being 20 people in a pedestrian street, our chantings are heard even from the Duomo square. A lot of tourists show their support and stop to learn more about the dirty business between Barclays Bank and Huntingdon. Our demo is very visual with special Barclays posters made especially for this Italian day of action.

It's these kind of people who with their investments start wars, degrade entire ecosystems and condemn thousands of animals to suffer and die at the hands of murderers wearing labcoats. Barclays didn't like our presence there and we promised them that we'll be back soon!

We'd like to dedicate these demos to our comrades and friends of SHAC UK persecuted by the British goverment, imprisoned for their compassion and their dedication in defending the weak. To Heather, Natasha, Dan Wadham, Gregg, Dan Amos, Gavin and Gerrah. For the animals, we keep on fighting!
