TWO DAYS OF NOISY PROTESTS FOR ASTRAZENECA

Thursday and Friday, 4th and 5th June

Activists gathered outside the gates of Astra Zeneca in Lund, Sweden to protest at their involvement with HLS. AstraZeneca used to be a customer years back but claimed to have stopped using them when the shocking footage from inside HLS (1997) shook Europe. However information soon leaked that they were still using HLS and they became targets for protests. In an article following the protests their public relations person confirmed that they were using HLS and that HLS didn't do any experiments that caused pain to the animals! What lies!

These two demos were held as the workers were going home for the evening/weekend and the point was made very clear. Megaphones were used to tell passers by why we were there and placards as well as new banners showed everyone what AZ is doing to the animals inside HLS.

For two hours every car going in and out of the compound had to drive past pictures of mutilated animals and activists asking them how they could justify making money from animal torture (since that's what it truly is). Sympathetic passers-by stopped to ask questions and pick up a leaflet and as AstraZeneca is one of the biggest companies in Lund everyone knows them very well. We thought people would be a lot less sympathetic to our message here since the company employs such a large amount of people in Lund but we got very good support throughout the day. A worker from inside AZ even stopped his car to tell us he's not happy with AZ using HLS. He had seen the footage from inside the labs and told us he's right now considering quitting his job if AZ continues dealing with HLS. We hope they make up their mind fast!

The protests outside AstraZeneca's labs, factories and offices will continue as long as they do business with Huntingdon Life Sciences.
