home >> news REGULAR PROTESTS CONTINUE IN SWEDEN Ciba Vision/Novartis, Astrazenenca and Bayer demos in Gothenburg 24th February - CIBA Vision confronted with protests Once again, animal rights activists in Gothenburg gathered to have a noisy demo outside CIBA VISION. Soon the demo became very intense, as an employee at CIBA VISION freaked out. She ran out, shouting at the protestors and behaving very violently. Not scaring the demonstrates off though, she went back inside to call the cops. They arrived and had a little chat with the activists (employee hiding in the window). The cops had obviously nothing against the protestor and left after reading a flyer. Freaky worker ran after the cops calling them pigs, but they left not noticing her. It was the most hilarious demo ever and the reaction of the worker clearly shows that we are disturbing them heavily with our small presence. They can't handle the truth and they just can't handle us. But deal with HLS - Deal with us. We will be back! 27th February - SHAC City Shakedown In solidarity with SHAC City Shakedown in London, UK. Activists in Gothenburg had demos in Sweden as well. The targets of the day were AstraZeneca and Bayer. With speeches and megaphone chanting, not a single visitor or worker could have not heard what a disgusting companies they are dealing with. Angry slogans like "blood on your hands" and "Vivisection is a trick, you get rich while we get sick" echoed firstly outside Bayer and then as the demo proceeded outside AstraZeneca as well. Their filthy co-operation with HLS disgusts many and pleases a few, not mentioning how many lives their cooperation crave. After the demos, in the evening, an animal rights event at the local autonomy culturecentre took place. There were delicious vegan food, movies about SHAC and the AR movement and political bands playing on the stage, as well as an overloaded distro and a prisoner support corner. In short: vegan paradise. It was a successful night, with many people and a good atmosphere! 2nd March - AstraZeneca and Bayer demo As usual, this Monday afternoon was dedicated to AstraZeneca and Bayer. To all the non-human animals that die just because they want to make profit and to make it as easily as possible. Well, we won't let them get off as easily as they want. We will shout and name and shame them as long as they help kill 500 animals and more EVERY DAY. We will protest until they realize that life always should be more important than money. We won't be silenced by the authorities or by angry workers, nor will we give up just because you ignore us the same way you ignore your responsibility. We will continue to protest until all are free. 3rd March - CIBA Vision demo 8 anti-vivisection campaigners gathered outside CIBA Vision in Gothenburg this Tuesday afternoon to show their disgust towards this company's bloody co-operation with HLS. Just as last week, the workers were not happy to see us. After shouting at us they called the cops. This time they were not that friendly. Their intention was to remove us from the site. But after talking and debating for an hour, they gave up. "You were right from the beginning and you knew it. But we gave it a try, don't you think?!" said one police as they left in their cars. We learn to know our rights and know them well. In many places in the world, protests directly outside a company is not legal. In Sweden, it is. We will take advantage of this as long as we still are able to. CIBA VISION will not scare us off with violent workers and silly police calls. See you soon HLS collaborators!
