MORE NOVARTIS AND BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB PROTESTS IN NYC

Saturday, 14th November

Activists from Win Animal Rights weren't put off by a little rain this past Saturday as they protested outside the homes of top executives contracting with Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Demo #1: Robert Pelzer – President Novartis

The first stop of the afternoon was at the home of Robert Pelzer, President of Novartis Corporation. At the start of the protest, activists unveiled a few new goodies to show off on First Avenue: a banner displaying the words "Novartis kills animals and people" along with a sign saying "Robert Pelzer puppy killer".

Activists weren't sure how Pelzer was going to react to the latest activist paraphernalia, but they didn't have to wait too long, as they spotted Pelzer himself sneaking down the street! A neighbor talking to protesters at the time even confirmed the sighting. For some strange reason Robert declined a chance to chat, hurrying along by. Sorry if they caught you at a bad time. In any case, if you'd like to discuss your contract with HLS, you know how to get in touch. And even if you're a little shy, don't fret. Activists will be back.

Demo #2: James Cornelius – Chairman & CEO Bristol-Myers Squibb

Next up, demonstrators paid a visit to James Cornelius, Chairman and CEO of Bristol Myers Squibb. Though protesters didn't have the fortunate nature of seeing Cornelius, they had to settle for the hundreds of pedestrians walking by the protest. Activists distributed bundles of literature detailing BMS' dirty dealings with Huntingdon Life Sciences. And let's not forget the boisterous chants that boomed throughout the neighborhood.

Despite the rain, activists were able to make their point and were even able to distribute flyers. Many onlookers were horrified at the graphic photos of bloody mutilated puppies and many stopped to look at each individual poster even though they were standing in the rain. Support was strong and once again activists felt that the protest hit it’s mark and highlighted the fact that Bristol-Myers Squibb funds animal torture and killing. “500 animals dies today and Bristol-Myers is to blame”!

Because of his home's close proximity to Columbus Circle, activists were forced to contend with the notorious horse carriage drivers. Protesters took the opportunity to call them out for their abuse and corruption. During one exchange with the drivers, who showed their maturity by flipping off protesters. An activist was approached by a woman, who had just ridden in a horse drawn carriage. After being educated about the cruelty to horses inherent in the carriage industry, she vowed never to take one again.
