GLAXO AND FORTRESS PROTESTS DEDICATED TO BARRY

This day of protest was dedicated to the memory of animal liberator Barry Horne who passed on November 5th, 2001.

Demo #1: Deryck Maughan – GlaxoSmithKline Director

Activists visited the exclusive Park Avenue home of Dereck Maughan, Director of Huntingdon Life Sciences' customer GlaxoSmithKline. The group's large graphic banner was unfurled and both posters and voices were raised high to draw this neighborhoods attention to the fact that a puppy killer lives amoungst them.

"500 animal died today, Deryck Maughan is to blame" followed by "500 animals murdered in vain, GlaxoSmithKline is to blame". The spirited protest drew lots of attention and many flyers were distributed to Maughan's neighbors. Many expressed disgust and vowed to voice their disapproval directly to GlaxoSmithKline.

Demo #2: Lilly Donohue – Fortress - Manager - Investor Relations

Following a trip uptown, activists gathered at the hi-rise apartment building where Lilly Donohue resides. Lilly is the Manager of Investor Relations of Fortress Investment Group. Fortress is the company that has enabled Huntingdon Life Sciences to stay in business. They are continuing to enable them now by rolling over crucial financing, without which HLS would become insolvent.

Although energy was flagging, it was not evident from the sound level of this protest, as the activists channeled all of their anger and passion into an energetic display. Voices were strong and fueled by the knowledge that Fortress have been responsible for the death of over half a million animals at Huntingdon Life Sciences to date.
