NOVARTIS & BRISTOL_MYERS SQUIBB PROTESTS IN NYC

Saturday, 10th October

Demo #1: Robert Pelzer - President - Novartis

First stop of the afternoon was the posh and exclusive hi-rise apartment of Novartis President, Robert Pelzer. Straight off it was announced that the day of demonstrations was in honor of and in solidarity with jailed activist Steve Murphy. Steve was nicked in Texas and extradited to California to face charges of alleged underground illegal activities. These bullshit arrests do nothing but increase our fervor and dedication.

Robert Pelzer was once again named and shamed in his neighborhood…..a neighborhood of animal lovers very supportive of the campaign to stop the killing at Huntingdon Life Sciences. Many stopped to chat and pick up literature. Some even asked for quantities to distribute at the offices and in the apartment buildings.

Novartis continues to claim that they do not work with Huntingdon Life Sciences, while still not making a formal statement. This coupled with on-going and current legal actions lead activists to believe that Novartis LIES. “We will never back down until you stop the killing, Mr. Pelzer”.

Demo #2: James Cornelius - Chairman & CEO Bristol-Myers Squibb

A short bus ride away, activists traveled to the luxurious digs of Bristol-Myers Squibb head honcho, James Cornelius. Cornelius lives in a lofty 59th floor penthouse apartment high above the rest of the world. Perhaps it is his thought that he might feel insulated from the hoi polloi down below on the sidewalks of New York. For that reason, the protests staged at this address are particularly loud and aggressive.

Where once security guards for the Time Warner building harassed the chanting activists, now they only stop by to say hello and to tell the protesters that after reading their flyers and looking at their signs, they understand why the protests are needed. One went so far as to give a guarded thumbs-up to let the group know that they were supportive, although they cannot say so openly.

Many shoppers and pedestrians stopped to chat and take literature. Some even stopped to make donations to the campaign. 500 animals are killed by Huntingdon Life Sciences daily and Bristol-Myers Squibb contracts and pays for the killing. James Cornelius is responsible. “Their blood is on your hands, Mr. Cornelius” shout the protesters in unison.

Demo #3: Lamberto Andreotti - President & COO - Bristol-Myers Squibb

Just a few blocks north of Columbus Circle, activists rallied at the exclusive residence of Lamberto Andreotti, President and Chief Operating Officer of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s “pharmaceutical” division (read: drug pusher). It is thought, by many, that when James Cornelius gets tired of New York City, Lamberto Andreotti could be his replacement. You would think that a man in his position would be sensitive to a campaign that implicates his company in the pain and suffering of countless thousands of animals.

Once again, Andreotti’s neighbors are totally supportive. Many stopped to urge the activists to continue their campaign of compassion. Some even took up posters and joined the protest. One went so far as to lead some of the chants. “Your money, Your Fault”….”Your Greed, Your Fault”….”Your Drugs, Your Fault”….chanted the protesters. Neighbors walking their dogs stopped to get an update on the campaign and to take supplies of literature.

Activists with Win Animal Rights enjoy these Central Park locations as it gives them an opportunity to “Say Hey” to the constant stream of carriages pulled along the tarmac by the pitiful sad horses that trudge around Central Park pulling lazy arrogant and insensitive tourists. In support of these poor horses, protesters stopped each time to deliver a message to the carriage horse slave drivers. Angry voices invoke the drivers to free the horses and to stop living off of slavery and get an honest job that doesn’t require abusing innocent animals.
