PROTEST AT DRUG CONFERENCE IN LONDON

Tuesday, 15th September

As the rain fell on London today, it set the mood for a lively demo outside The Bloomsbury Hotel, 16-22 Great Russel Street, London WC1 3NN. We were at the location as the pharmaceutical community have decided to hold a Drug 'Safety' Conference at the hotel, with many of HLS' customers attending! Feel free to contact the hotel on 0207 7347 1000 or even pay them a visit expressing your concern that they would hold such an event and that you hope they will think twice in the future! Of course, as I'm sure you will, please keep all contact polite.

Anyway, we can only hope that they were discussing the pharma community's complete disregard for human health and drug safety in their use of lab animals! Of course, as the SHAC campaign, we wouldn't be there if there wasn't an array of HLS customers present, these included Bayer, Sanofi-Aventis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Schering Plough, Abbott Labs, Pfizer, Novartis and Eli Lilly! Granted the hotel hated the demo and promptly called the police! Most likely on advice from the above customer reps! But fair play to the cops they gave in very easily after we obviously refused to move! However they did object to being filmed in case of a defence being required.

Apparently they have rights, however we thought they gave those up, along with their souls, when they became police, but that's a discussion for a different day! Anyway we managed to get a load of leaflets out to the public and expose these disgraceful companies for what they do and we were shown good public support so you never know we may have made some new recruits! And it goes to show these demos work for bringing in new people, as we were joined by a newbie today!
