BDO & ICS DEMOS CONTINUE IN BIRMINGHAM
Friday, 11th September
BDO International received another visit from SHAC Birmingham last friday with our regular demonstrations against them and ICS, however due to a drawn-out debate we ended up in with the West Midlands Police Farce we ended up not having time to swing by the cheery lot at Industrial Cooling Systems, but when a company happens to miss a visit from us on our regular demonstrations, we only think it's right they get 2 visits the following week.
Arriving again outside the doors of BDO International last friday, the demonstration started. Leaflets were given out with information to the many interested members of the public, placards to show pictures of the horrific cruelty that BDO is partly responsible for by being affiliated with the filthy and notorious Huntingdon Life Sciences, a megaphone and our voices to loudly name and shame BDO for the blood on their hands, and expose them and HLS to a shocked and disgusted public.
Soon into the demonstration a member of the building came out and approached us, he threatened an activist using the megaphone to stop using it - or he'd... PHONE THE POLICE!... Oh no, whatever is a SHACtivist to do? Carry on using it of course! After making a phone call to the police, and stating it's against the law to protest with a megaphone to us, he then proceeded by shouting and screaming at us and pointing his finger in our faces - because that's perfectly lawful behaviour for him, right?
Not long after the police were on the scene, telling us how WE were INTIMIDATING towards the person screaming at us, but when made aware that we'd been intimidated and told just what he'd been doing they were not interested. Their eyes fixed on the megaphone, it was quite obvious the sole reason they were here. Being told about how he'd intimidated us, they then conveniently decided to change how we were violating the law by instead saying we were disrupting a business from going about it's lawful activity because of using the megaphone. We replied to this by telling him there were many people who are supportive of the demonstration around, and they would comment against this - to this he told us they'd have to go to the station to do so - but he'd gladly take comments from those prepared to fuel their corrupted power-hungry authoritarianism. We then asked what would he do if we were to stop using the megaphone, not that we were, but then he complained that our voices were too loud? He refused to answer at first, but then when asked more times he nervously said "he'd deal with it if and when it happens".
We refused to stop using the megaphone and they responded by using a section 14 restriction for 2 hours, if this continues we will challenge it.
SHAC is an ever increasing thorn in your company BDO, we're going nowhere until you stop dealing with HLS.
Thursday, 17th September
Because ICS missed out on the fun last week, we're giving them twice the dosage this week, the first of which happened today (Thursday 17th). Because of the show ICS put on for us last week, we know how much they enjoy our close-up visits.
A smile came to our faces today when we arrived in the area and saw ICS were having construction work done around their windows! Is this a desperate attempt to try to block out some of our noise, ICS? Or perhaps some sort of security system being put in place? Who knows, but we'll soon find out! Also, another company working there meant even more embarrassment for ICS today.
Soon into the demo, a moody-looking (what's new?) ICS worker came out of the building. First telling us to leave, we replied by saying "we're not going anywhere, we'll keep coming back until your company stops dealing with Huntingdon Life Sciences", but it was his second dialogue that was pretty funny, "I don't work for ICS" he said. After pointing out that he'd just walked out of ICS's front door to approach us, from the building behind him which has a 7 ft wide board with "INDUSTRIAL COOLING SYSTEMS" clearly marked on it, he then went on to tell us "I don't want to debate with you", to which we said "we're not interested in debating with you then, but you can expect very regular visits from SHAC to continue until ICS stop supplying HLS"
More to come tomorrow when the weekly demonstrations are continued against both targets here in Birmingham.
CLOSE DOWN HLS!
