MORE ASTRAZENECA & FORTRESS PROTESTS IN LONDON

We started today's demonstration against AstraZeneca with the welcome presence of an Austrian TV journalist and a film crew. They are making a documentary about the oppression currently happening in Austria to animal rights people who are being treated like members of a mafia organisation, and wanted some British perspective. At Stanhope Gate we let them have it as normal,using the megaphone to tell everyone around about the corruption and lies of the pharmaceutical industry while also telling of the horrific torture animals are subjected to in the name of AstraZeneca and Huntingdon Life Sciences. A couple of activists were interviewed for Austrian TV and gave their accounts of how oppression of animals rights activists, particularly anti-vivisection activists, has happened in the UK.

We moved onto Fortress Investment Group - a familiar demonstration duo - to shame them for their investment in (loan to) HLS which is allowing them to continue their dirty cowardly business of torturing animals for profit. One bloke walked past the demonstration declaring his love for shooting animals and eating them. Unfortunately for him, one of the activists recognised him as a local police sergeant and he walked off very embarrassed! Surely violent individuals like this should be in a position of power? The protest continued with support from the passing public who were attracted by the loud protest and the media and police presence, we offered Fortress to come out to explain to the Austrian media team why they continue to support such a cruel animal abuse organisation, such as HLS and reminded Fortress that they only need to drop their financial support of them, surely Fortress has enough problems with trying to sue the Canadian government for money they are owned from the winter Olympics site in Canada?
