DOUBLE ASTRAZENECA PROTESTS IN LONDON

Activists arrived at AstraZeneca's UK HQ at Stanhope Gate at about 11:30 and got straight into the demo. Using megaphones and placards we highlighted AstraZeneca's dealings with HLS - a company with a criminal track record for animal cruelty, along with many exposes showing incompetent staff and falsification of test data.

AZ have themselves been found out recently for suppressing results and lying about their own test data, so it can be of no surprise that they 'tested' drugs are causing side effects, especially when they continue to use the worse and most exposed CRO lab in the world.

AZ are also having to cut back on jobs, their share price is down and they are being sued by thousands of ex-users of their drug Seroquel for giving them diabetes, weight gain and other side effects. Kudos where it's due AZ?

We continue to focus on the 500 animals that are killed after being tortured at HLS and with AZ being confirmed as a large customer and for also defending the cruelty that goes on inside HLS - AstraZeneca will firmly be in our sights and we'll be stepping up our campaign against them in 2010.

After being at AZ for a good hour we moved on to Fortress, the main financial backer and lender for HLS. Activists chanted and gave out information about this Savile Row company, about how they tried to hide their loan dealings, how they have lied to the public and the campaign and most importantly, how their blood money has allowed the deaths of over half a million animals inside HLS since 2006. We continued to have a vibrant and loud demo for a good hour outside their offices.

Lets not forget that this financial company is the reason HLS are still killing and torturing animals today and that they are the number one financial target in our campaign - we will not be deterred and we will not stop our campaign against you Fortress until you do the right thing and drop your loan with HLS.

As it was a day of action against AstraZeneca we couldn't leave AZ without another protest and they were surprised of our return to them. AZ, you need to realise that we are not going away and we will protest when we want! We continued to name and shame AZ (along with main stream media articles) and had another focused and loud demo, with no sign of any police as they were all busy with protesters that were at Iraq enquiry with liar Blair. WE gave AZ a megaphone sandwich, with megaphones on all sides of their building making sure they got our message loud and clear - drop HLS and stop funding animal torture, you now we will be back until you do.
