MORE ASTRAZENECA & FORTRESS PROTESTS IN LONDON

Friday, 8th January

It was a bit frosty this morning when we started our demonstration and our attitude towards AstraZeneca, Fortress and the police matched the weather. AstraZeneca were shamed for being the corrupt, greedy, shareholder-pleasing and patient-killing corporation that they are. The police showed up at the end of the demonstration and told one of the activists that the megaphone siren couldn't be used because it amounted to a breach of the peace. Well, for any police reading (and there undoubtedly will be some):

The definition in Howell is: “We are emboldened to say that there is a breach of the peace whenever harm is actually done or is likely to be done to a person or in his presence his property or a person is in fear of being so harmed through an assault, an affray, a riot, unlawful assembly or other disturbance.”

No mention of a siren on a megaphone then, PC Plod?

We went on to Fortress where we leafleted for about an hour in the light snow telling the public around what kind of filthy business they are involved in, having given a large loan to HLS, allowing the torture and killing to continue at HLS.

Campaign continues...
