FORTRESS AND NOMURA PROTESTS IN LONDON

While peacefully protesting at the corrupted, disgraceful and shameful Fortress Investment Group, based at 5 Saville Row (floors: 3rd, 4th and 5th), London W1S 3PD, an infuriated person came towards one of our protesters shouting: “You can’t do this!!!” “Will you stop shouting once a week for nine months?!!!”

This person was concerned only with himself, ignoring the most horrific, barbaric and 'legally allowed' animal cruelty which our placards and chanting have been highlighting for those 9 months… . What kind of person is he to ask us to stop shouting against this cruel injustice…?

From that moment on, the police stopped us using the megaphone, which was just being used for a speech cataloging the medical failures, the misery and cruel torture that is vivisection.

The16 protestors would not let this important message be silenced, so we continued chanting, naming and shaming Fortress. We were actually louder and more members of the public were interested in our campaign. With many people wanting to know more and we gave out many leaflets. This is what Fortress hates - information about their dealings with HLS being public, they want to silence us and use the police to force us away. But these issues are too important for us to go away and we will continue to highlight Fortress' dealings until they stop no matter what.

Then we went to Nomura, based at Nomura House at 1 Martin's-le-Grand, London EC1A 4NP, that owns 15 % of Fortress and shares directors with them. We used our megaphones and handed out leaflets to the Nomura employees. One of them came over to one of our protesters and asked her very aggressively whether our leaflets were recycled on paper…? Of which there are. This shows typical defensive aggression of a guilty person who is confronted with the fact that their company is funding animal abuse and torture. So they go into a defensive mode, rather than question their own companies own ethics of being involved in cruel, unnecessary, animal torture. He is submissive to the company, without questioning how the company he works for affects others; what is morally right and wrong, and whose only main aim in life is to make a profit for the directors and shareholders. Greedy, shameful Nomura just speak one language, the language of profit at any cost.

Nomura, like Fortress are important financial backers of HLS who are responsible for the death of 500 animals every single day of the week. They will never shut us up and we will continue fighting for the animals inside HLS until they close.
