home >> news HLS CUSTOMER HAS PROTESTS NEAR NEWCASTLE Friday, 19th November Activists today protested outside the offices of an HLS customer, to inform the workers of Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) at their site at Shotton Lane, Cramlington, Northumberland, NE23 3JU that while they deal with Huntingdon Life Sciences, the most exposed CRO in the world, we will continue to make our concerns known to them and their neighbours. Local activists protested with placards and megaphone to inform MSD that we will not stop our protests until they cut their ties with HLS. The workers of MSD reacted by calling the police, and although a lot of police turned up including a evidence gatherer, a plain clothes DC, a sergeant and 3 PCs, in separate vehicles only showed how wasteful Northumbia police are during a time of cutbacks. The posse of police watched our protest, but we weren't deterred by their presence and continued on regardless to name and shame this company that while they remain involved with HLS, helping to pay for the deaths of 500 animals a day we will continue with our protests there. MSD, cut your ties with HLS!
