HLS FINANCIAL COLLABORATORS HAVE MORE DEMOS IN LONDON
Thursday, 21st October
As part of the Scary Science Solidarity week of action, activists in London continued to protest at different financial collaborators of HLS.
We started off outside Nomura's UK HQ offices at 1 Angel Lane, on the Thames by Upper Thames Street, with a loud and visual demo around their glass building. Nomura own over 120,000,000 shares in Fortress and have a great deal of influence over them as they effectively own a third of Fortress. We call on Nomura to use their position to persuade Fortress to drop their blood money loan with HLS. After all, their own loan agreement has a clause that gives them an easy way to get out of their situation and we will not rest or stop, until Fortress and Nomura pull out of their dealings with disgustingly cruel HLS.
The next port of call for today was the Bank of America Merrill Lynch's offices at 100 Newgate Street/1 St Edwards Street, near St Pauls. Since Bank of America are not only one of the largest shareholders of Fortress, but have also lent them millions of dollars as Fortress are in debt. This just makes Bank of America an even bigger target for the campaign and we had a loud lunchtime protest there, while informing the many passing public and staff what Bank of America are involved in.
Then it was a quick flying visit to Nomura's other offices at Nomura House, 1 St Martins le Grand, just round the corner from the Bank of America to continue highlighting Nomura's support and investment in animal torture at the most exposed animal lab in the world.
We then moved onto JP Morgan at 125 London Wall, as since Sankaty Advisors have sold their Fortress shares and vowed not to deal with Fortress or HLS, making JP Morgan the new fourth largest shareholder of Fortress with only 2 million shares. This is a great demo location, with much passing traffic and public access to two levels of JP Morgan's offices, with good demo acoustics. We will certainly come back here very soon while they are a shareholder of Fortress.
The last demo of the day was back where we started that morning at Nomura's HQ at 1 Angel Lane by Upper Thames Street. Nomura what you need to do is ask your neighbour the NYSE about us, they will tell you we will never give up until you do the right thing and pull out of your involvement with HLS/Fortress. How any company that pretends to have even the slightest corporate morals and ethics as yourselves, yet continue to quietly fund the abuse and torture of 500 innocent animals a day is beyond us. Well, your dirty secret is out now and we will, rest assured continue to name and shame you for your involvement in HLS, a company with a criminal record for animal cruelty and financial irregularities, as well as sloppy work practices and scientific fraud. You will realise, like the many hundreds of companies before you that dealing with HLS is bad for your business and we will continue to fight for those imprisoned inside HLS until all are free.
