SOLIDARITY PROTESTS CONTINUE IN LONDON

Monday, 25th October

Following on with the Scary Science Solidarity demos in London, activists continued to protest at companies involved in the gross, systematic abuse and torture at HLS.

Activists today were outside the financial collaborators of Fortress Investment Group, the financial life-line for HLS, helping to fund the continued abuse and murder of 500 animals every single day.

First stop of the day was JP Morgan at 125 London Wall as the fourth largest shareholder of Fortress, activists were in fine voice with 3 megaphones calling for JP Morgan to pull out of their unethical investment with HLS's funder Fortress. Being early lunchtime, it was an ideal time to educate the workers at JP Morgan about their employees involvement with animal abuse and their was a lot of interest from them and the passing public.

Then we moved on to Bank of America who are not only a major shareholder of Fortress, but have recently bailed them out with a $280 million loan. Again BofA employees were leafleted, along with passers by and a noise protest ensued. With the sentencing of 6 animal rights campaigners today we had interest from Channel 4 TV and they filmed the protest and talked with campaigners there. (Channel 4 exposed HLS in 1997 in an undercover expose called it's a dog's life). After protesting for an hour and a half, we moved on to Fortress' largest financial ally, Nomura.

Nomura's UK HQ are becoming no stranger to our regular protests and as the largest shareholder of Fortress, sharing some directors with them and helping to fund the buying of Fortress' property at 5 Savile Row there have a great deal of ties and influence with Fortress and we will continue to hammer home the message that we will not leave them alone until they either dump Fortress or Fortress recall their blood money loan to HLS.

Again, banners, placards, megaphones and flyers were used to highlight Nomura's continued involvement with the animal abusers at HLS. As they own 30% of Fortress they have an important role to play in getting Fortress to do the right thing. And while Fortress continue to try and stifle our rights to peaceful, lawful protest using the High Court, we will use every lawful avenue open to us to name, shame and protest at any company dealing with Fortress and HLS.
