HLS CUSTOMERS HAVE MORE DEMOS IN FRANCE

Monday, 25th October

The Coalition Anti Vivisection France took part in the “Scary Science” week of action, which was also a solidarity week of action for the British activists on trial during the 21st - 25th of October.

There were 10 activists gathered for the demo in front of AstraZeneca’s offices in Rueil Malmaison. AstraZeneca is one of HLS's major clients, that’s why we believe it’s crucial to continue demos in front of their offices. We spent a few hours shouting our usual slogans and holding up our billboards against Huntingdon Life Sciences.

Our big banner “Lâchez HLS” (Drop HLS) was so visible that you’d have to be blind not to understand what we wanted. One thing is sure; they know that we will return as long as they are customers of HLS, this horrible lab which makes us feel ashamed to be part of the same species as its employees.

The 2nd part of the afternoon was dedicated to Schering-Plough’s employees. We went to Courbevoie, in the business district of La Défense to show our anger to Schering, another customer of HLS. We hung up our banner “Cette entreprise gagne de l’argent sur la souffrance animale” (This company makes business out of animal suffering) so that passers by could see it easily. AstraZeneca had warmed us up; we started the demo very quickly. We started shouting our slogans and we made short speeches about ethics, non-animal testing, and obviously a description of HLS. Many young people stopped and asked us questions about vivisection and why we were there, some of then asked us for leaflets to hand out to people they knew.

That afternoon we stressed our position of solidarity with the British activists and we’ll come back to tell the truth about HLS until it has been shut down, in the name of the 500 animals who die every day.
