home >> news VIVISECTION INDUSTRY COLLABORATORS HAVE MORE PROTESTS IN LONDON Friday, 29th October Fortress, HIG/Amerijet, JP Morgan, Bank of America and Nomura protests. As the end of the week of action for Scary Science Solidarity comes to an end in London. Activists started their day of protests at the financial lynchpin of HLS - Fortress Investment Group at 5 Savile Row, London, W1 who lent $70 blood money to keep HLS killing 500 animals a day and who HLS know there have few options left to them. No matter how many good activists go to jail or how many draconian injunctions vivisection apologists get. We will finish the job we started and we will close down HLS. We had a really good, loud demo and along with the extra crowd of shoppers waiting to go into a nearby shop, we had plenty of opportunity to let them know all about Fortress' unethical dealings with the animal abusers at HLS. Next stop of the day was just down the road at HIG Capital Europe, 25 St George Street, London, W1, who own Amerijet a disgusting airline that profiteers from transporting animals to their deaths. Amerijet fly thousands of primates for vivisection each year and are a major player in the vivisection industry. They work on behalf of recently exposed Primate Products Inc and Worldwide Primates, who's owner served a prison sentence for his role in a primate smuggling ring. The front doors were open of the shared building and megaphones were used to great effect to chant slogans, which could be heard throughout the hallways of the offices. Staff from other businesses came down to see what was happening, read our posters and took flyers, they looked shocked about the sick monkey killing company in their midst. As airlines across the world refuse to be involved in the transport of animals for laboratory experiments, it is only a matter of time before HIG Capital / Amerijet follow suite and we will continue to put pressure on this greedy, disgusting company and airline until they pull out for good. Then it was a short journey into the financial district of the city to our next target, JP Morgan at 125 London Wall, London, EC2Y 5AJ for being a major shareholder of Fortress Investment Group. This is always a good demo location, with staff putting the building into lock down, with all JP Morgan staff having to go past our protest. With many taking flyers about HLS and Fortress and the good echo there, we'll be sure to keep coming back to JP Morgan, time and time again. 4 demos in 8 days, with many more to come until JP Morgan dumps their shares in Fortress, it's not really that hard JPM, Sankaty Advisors got rid of their shares quick enough - it's time to follow suit? After a brief late lunch break it was back into it with a demo outside Fortress shareholder and funder, Bank of America at Merrill Lynch Financial Centre, 100 Newgate Street/2 King Edward Street, London where a loud, focused demo ensued. Again with many flyers handed out to staff and passers by. After about an hour it was time to move on to our last protest of the day outside Nomura. Nomura's UK HQ offices at One Angel Lane, off Upper Thames Street, London, EC4R 3AB. Again, this is a good demo location with a lot of passing traffic and we were there just in time to see a lot of the Nomura staff off the building and gave them plenty to think about as they went home for the weekend. Nomura are not only the largest shareholder of Fortress with 120 million shares, but also share some directors with Fortress and lent Fortress' landlords to buy 5 Savile Row. Nomura are up to their necks in the blood money and are a major financial collaborator for Fortress. They have a great deal of influence as they effectively own 30% of Fortress and we call on Nomura to put pressure of Fortress to pull out of their loan with HLS or dump Fortress. The choice is yours Nomura, is the millions of dollars you make really worth all this attention? We will never back down or leave you along while you continue to invest and profit from this gross animal abuse. You may lock up a few compassionate individuals, but you will never be able to stop an idea that's time has come - HLS will close and until all are free, we'll keep coming back for more until everyone dealing with HLS gets the message, loud and clear!
