ASTRAZENECA SHAREHOLDERS HAVE MORE DEMOS IN LONDON

Friday, 3rd February

Today we targeted 3 of largest shareholders of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, exposed for horrific animal abuse at HLS, corruption and bribery.

AstraZeneca has been this week the center of attention because it’s cutting 7,300 jobs in the US, Canada, Sweden and the UK, as it confronts a fall in their profits and as success rates drop in “research and development”. Is it maybe because its new diabetes drug has been turned down by the US Food and Drug Administration due to possible liver damage and the potential link with breast and bladder cancer? Or maybe because their two new drugs, for cancer and depression, failure in the first trial? Once again, new drugs 'successful' in animal studies go onto fail in clinical trials. We wonder why the media doesn’t mention how many of these volunteers have been injured?

First visit was at AXA's UK HQ, at 5 Old Broad Street, London EC2N 1AD (Tel: 020 7920 5900), where we loudly protested naming and shaming Axa for their investment in animal abuse and murder. It was freezing cold and a member of the public offered to buy hot drinks for us. Nothing will stop us speaking up for the 70.000 animals locked in cages at HLS waiting to be poisoned and murdered for profits.

Next visit was for Legal & General Investment Management, at 1 Coleman Street, London EC2R 5AA (Tel: 020 3124 3000 and 0800 027 7169), a company that not only invest in torture and murder at HLS, but also funds institutions investing in prohibited cluster munitions.

After a break to keep us warm during the bitter cold of London, we visited BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited, at Drapers Gardens, 12 Throgmorton Avenue, London EC2N 2DL (Tel: 0800 44 55 22 and 020 7743 3000), who are the largest AstraZeneca’s equity shareholder. We had a loud protest with megaphones informing employees’ at work and embarrassing them for investing in the killing of 500 animals every single day of the week.

We will continue naming and shaming these companies until the thousands of beagle puppies, primates, cats, mice and rabbits who are crying in loneliness in agonizing pain inside HLS are free.

Until all are free
